📌 Setup Guide: Hikvision DS-2CV2041G2-IDW Wi-Fi Camera to DS-7604NI NVR

Step 1: Prepare Your Devices

✅ Ensure:

  • The DS-7604NI NVR is connected via Ethernet to your router.
  • The camera is powered using a 12V/1A power adapter.
  • The Wi-Fi signal is strong where the camera is installed.
  • The PC is connected to the same router as the NVR and camera.

Step 2: Connect and Configure the Camera

Option 1: Wired Setup for Initial Configuration (Recommended)

  1. Connect the camera to the router using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Download and install Hikvision SADP Tool on your PC.
  3. Open SADP Tool, and find the camera’s IP address.
  4. Open a web browser and enter the camera’s IP (e.g., http://192.168.1.100).
  5. Log in using:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: The one created during activation.
  6. Navigate to Configuration > Network > Wi-Fi.

Step 3: Connect the Camera to Wi-Fi

  1. Go to Configuration > Network > Wi-Fi.
  2. Enable Wi-Fi.
  3. Click Search and select your Wi-Fi network (SSID).
  4. Enter the Wi-Fi password.
  5. Click Save and disconnect the Ethernet cable (if used).
  6. Reboot the camera and wait for it to reconnect wirelessly.
  7. Use SADP Tool or your router’s DHCP client list to find the new Wi-Fi IP address of the camera.

Step 4: Assign a Static IP to the Camera

To prevent future IP changes, bind the camera’s MAC address to a static IP in the router.

On Your Router:

  1. Log into the router’s web interface (http://192.168.1.1).
  2. Go to DHCP Settings > Address Reservation (name may vary by router).
  3. Find the camera’s MAC address in the connected devices list.
  4. Assign a static IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.200).
  5. Save and reboot the router.

On the Camera:

  1. In the camera’s web interface, go to Configuration > Network > TCP/IP.
  2. Change IP Mode to Static.
  3. Enter:
    • IP Address: (same as reserved, e.g., 192.168.1.200).
    • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    • Gateway: Router’s IP (192.168.1.1).
    • Preferred DNS: 8.8.8.8
    • Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4
  4. Click Save and reboot.

Step 5: Add the Camera to the NVR

  1. Connect a monitor & mouse to the NVR.
  2. Go to Menu > Camera > Camera Management.
  3. Click Add Camera.
  4. Choose Manual Add and enter:
    • IP Address: 192.168.1.200 (or your assigned static IP).
    • Protocol: Hikvision
    • Port: 8000
    • Username: admin
    • Password: (Same as camera login)
  5. Click Apply & Save.

Step 6: Configure Recording Settings

  1. Go to Menu > Storage > Schedule Settings.
  2. Set the recording type:
    • Continuous (records all the time).
    • Motion Detection (records only when motion is detected).
    • Event-based (records based on smart detection events).
  3. Click Apply and check if footage is saved.

✅ Final Checks

  • 🔲 Ensure the camera appears in the NVR Live View.
  • 🔲 Verify the camera keeps the same IP after a router reboot.
  • 🔲 Test recording and playback.
  • 🔲 Improve Wi-Fi strength if video lags (use a Wi-Fi extender if necessary).

🚀 Summary

  • The camera connects wirelessly to the router, and the NVR communicates with it over LAN.
  • A static IP is set to prevent disconnection.
  • The camera is manually added to the NVR for recording.
